GLISA Officer Meeting #1 Minutes: November 2, 2016
Commenced at: 8:04 p.m.
Members Present: Ivan Martinez, Katrina Corral, and Alelya Wheeler.
Notes: Krystal had an emergency crop up and couldn’t make it. Ivan had to leave at 8:37.
General Introductions:
Ivan is finishing his second semester. Just started a new job as a library assistant.
Aleya is in her third semester. Working as a library assistant in Acquisitions.
Katrina is in her first semester. English BA. Hoping to bring more activity to GLISA. Wants to further get information out for members by following ALA and picking out things as we see them.
Goals:
Get a treasurer: Aleya
Help to keep GLISA running smoothly by introducing new technologies: Aleya
Possibly building a forum to supplement Blackboard
Build guides and how-to’s for technologies or link things
Writing the newsletter: Ivan
Introduce everyone and get some general information out
Possibly start putting things up once a week: Blog post for officers, connect with guest posts. Need to really push the blog posts.
Ivan goals:
Social media: one post a week on all social media.
Officers can send ideas to Ivan.
Katrina goals:
Create something concrete for next year’s Officers.
Provide more career development opportunities for GLISA members.

Technologies:
Slack: use for quick communications
Trello use for projects with many parts like newsletter
Google Hangouts for Officer communication and planning (meetings)
Google Drive: To document all communications, projects, etc.

Katrina reorganized the GLISA Google Drive
Need to better track communications and work on all the projects.
Post in classes to promote for a treasurer and GLISA
Create a flyer to promote for GLISA- Canva
Create a flyer to promote for the Treasurer- Canva
Talk to Dr. Masten to send the flyer(s) to all of the students

Promote career development stuff for the members
Resume book to put on list serves and such
Welcome Email changes:
Promote discussion board, Facebook, Twitter, Blog, in a visually pleasing manner
Advertise guest blog posts: Are you interested in writing a guest post for our blog? We’re always taking submissions.
Mailchimp? May want to look into.
When new members get the email they’d know exactly what they’re getting access to.
Blackboard:
Officers: edit information on Blackboard and add pictures.
Book Club: Possibly look into an alternative discussion format for Book Club.
Purpose of blackboard: announcements and documentation. Track what’s been done in the past.
Meetups next semester? Local areas.
Future Meeting Time and Dates:
Aleya: not available 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.
Katrina: clear schedule.
Doodle to be sent out to get meeting going for sometime next week. Need everyone there.
Need a regular meeting schedule.
Future Meeting To-Do’s:
Create concrete goals and what you want to accomplish for the remainder of the semester and for the rest of the year.
Come ready with an idea of consistent range of times for future meetings.
